I am so excited to show you something I've been working on that is completely new to me. Last week I told you about the amazing Surface Pattern Design class I took on Creative Live with Bonnie Christine and how much I loved it. She challenged everyone to create a pattern collection of their own and although I rarely have time to breathe, I decided I wanted to try it out.
This is my collection! It's inspired by my two little boys, Jack and Liam. They fill my entire life and recently I've seen them start to develop a special bond as brothers, one that has been there since Liam came into our lives.
I had great fun and many a headache building this collection and you can see a lot of my process over on my Creative Live Student Work Page. I will be discussing my process more in depth as part of the Surface Pattern Design Blog Tour and I can't wait to put all that together and show you how I came up with everything. I might have to make it a series of posts.
I have to say, I had a lot of fun mocking these up. I ended up having to create my own onesie and pajamas set so I could mock those up.
For some reason, I absolutely LOVE buying my sons pajamas. They're usually made in such adorable, fun patterns and I just think kids and especially babies look adorable in pajamas. I could stare at Liam crawling around in his pajamas all day. So I was so happy to see that my patterns would work really well to make them pajamas, now if I could just learn how to make them...
Well, now that I've showed you some of my stuff, I wanted to show you some of my favorite patterns from the student work page over on Creative Live. All the work people have been doing will BLOW YOU AWAY! Here are some of my favorites:
This is Undergrowth by Meghann Rader and I'm in love with it. The color scheme is gorgeous and the patterns themselves are simply beautiful!
Next up is WILD by Erin Stewart who is incredibly prolific! She has about 4 collections in the student work page, probably more. The best part is, her work is absolutely stunning so it's good that she has so many collections to choose from! She was also the first to share a post on the blog tour so you can see her process and follow along with each collection.
I can't fit all the patterns I like but I had to finish off with Let's Go Camping by Emily Roach. She took a theme that my husband and I both love, CAMPING! I love the tents and campers, the marshmallows, the stars and even the campsite stubs! A very cute collection.
Those are just a few of my favorites. There are so many more to see, so if you have a moment, I encourage you to go over and have a look.
If nothing else, you'll end up very inspired, I promise you.
Have a wonderful week!
